BeyondTV MyRemote to Provide Guests With Ultimate in In-room Convenience and Contactless Service Control

Mobile web-app offers personal smart device access to full range of BeyondTV features to reduce shared surface risks, including controlling TV functions, communicating with staff, requesting amenities and much more.

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Hotel Internet Services (HIS), a full-service provider of internet services and solutions for the hospitality industry, has unveiled the latest in guestroom entertainment and contactless convenience with the launch of BeyondTV MyRemote. Designed to be instantly accessible by a wide range of personal devices without the need to download software, MyRemote is simultaneously able to cater to growing demands for instant, personalized service while ensuring that new guest expectations for contactless and social distancing compatible amenities can be fully met.

Compatible with all smart devices, MyRemote can be made available via QR code or manual registration and does not even require a Wi-Fi connection in order to function. Replacing the prior need to handle physical in-room items such as TV remotes that may pose a germ exposure risk, MyRemote offers safer and hassle-free access to a wide range of traditional guestroom functionalities and services, including:

  • Total television control such as powering on or off, changing channels and adjusting volume.
  • Complete access to browsing TV guides.
  • Ability to enter login details for apps such as streaming services using smart device keyboards.
  • Effortless switching between apps on guestroom television.
  • Ability to control more than one guestroom TV if present.
  • Options to change television language and color themes to suit personal preferences.

BeyondTV, a comprehensive in-room entertainment solution, can now provide guests with full contactless TV control with the remarkably fast and responsive MyRemote, a web-based remote that guests use on their own smartphones or tablets. Guests can use MyRemote to peruse the hotel’s digital compendium, with details such as restaurant information and spa hours. Further aiding social distancing capabilities, MyRemote allows guests to read messages, view bills and express check-out via the television, meaning less front desk visits.

With security and privacy remaining a top priority for the industry in maintaining guest trust, MyRemote utilizes a secure HTTPS interface to prevent any risk of data theft. Additionally, BeyondTV automatically logs guests out and clears accounts and personal usage information upon check-out.

“As guests seek to remain in their guestrooms instead of venturing into high traffic hotel areas to minimize health risks, it is vital that hoteliers have the ability to adapt their offerings to provide comprehensive guestroom-oriented experiences that can take such concerns and new behaviors into account,” said Gary Patrick, CEO at Hotel Internet Services. “HIS with BeyondTV MyRemote raises the bar on creating a more hygienic hotel environment that nonetheless offers guests complete personalized service control from the safety of their own devices and by using a guestroom’s television screen.”

With BeyondTV, hoteliers are further able to create customized welcome videos that automatically begin to play once a guest enters the room. These can include providing guests with details over how their room has been sanitized or information on available hotel services that can assist with providing a more enjoyable stay.

Engineered as a scalable solution, BeyondTV can also be equipped with virtual assistant and voice control abilities via an integration with Amazon’s Alexa or Google Home. This not only offers an opportunity to provide guests with another convenience-enhancing option for interacting with BeyondTV’s full array of features and services, but also provides safer contactless control over a range of in-room amenities, including thermostats, lighting, televisions and drapes.

Hotel Internet Services Deploys Advanced Television Voice Command Functionality with BeyondTV

Hotel Internet Services (HIS), a full-service provider of internet services and solutions for the hospitality industry, is unveiling the full integration of voice-activated technology in its BeyondTV platform, a state-of-the-art television content streaming and casting solution that offers an all-inclusive guestroom entertainment experience. Deployed alongside Amazon’s Alexa and via a software integration with Volara, a leader in voice-based solutions for the hospitality industry, BeyondTV now provides guests with the ability to fully control all television-based functions that the solution offers through voice command.

BeyondTV’s newest upgrade not only allows users to turn guestroom televisions on or off, but also significantly provides guests with the ability to change channels or pull up a television guide with the use of their voice. Guests can even request the platform to display a specific television show by simply speaking its name. Voice command also extends to the array of features offered by BeyondTV, such as personal device casting, access to social media and online video streaming accounts, or the ability to visit websites on the guestroom television. With BeyondTV hosting its own expansive library of pay-per-view movies, guests can instantly locate and begin watching the content of their choice without having to pick up a remote control.

“The introduction of voice technology to the hospitality industry has seen a rapid rise in services and amenities that are now voice-compatible, but what was missing was a solution that could also integrate such convenience with an immersive in-room entertainment experience,” said Gary Patrick, CEO of Hotel Internet Services. “BeyondTV directly caters to this need by ensuring that its features are readily available upon spoken request, which alongside other functions, such as the ability to order room service, turn lights on or adjust the thermostat via voice, provides hotels with the ability to fully meet guest demands for instant and personalized service.”

As a cloud-based integration, BeyondTV automatically receives television-specific voice commands that are routed from Volara. Volara further ensures that service requests or commands to activate other amenites are also directed to the appropriate systems. Each unit is pre-configured to a property’s specific guestroom and Wi-Fi network, allowing hoteliers to implement the solution with minimal effort.

BeyondTV Solution Awarded U.S. Patent for Advanced Guest Data Protection and Privacy Technology

United States Patent Office (USPTO) recognizes Hotel Internet Services for security protocol developed for the BeyondTV Entertainment Streaming Solution

CLEARWATER, Fla.  — Hotel Internet Services (HIS) has been awarded a patent by the USPTO for the guest data security protocol used in its BeyondTV solution, an industry leading platform that allows hotel guests to access content from online streaming subscriptions or wirelessly cast from personal devices onto guestroom televisions. Issued with patent No. 10,097,864 and officially named ‘Guest Personal Data Protection,’ the technology provides guests with the assurance that all online browsing or app usage history and any personal account information, such as usernames or passwords, is completely erased to ensure against identity theft or otherwise unauthorized use.

While catering to growing guest preferences for personalized content, BeyondTV has always prioritized the need to protect sensitive guest data. The newly awarded patent includes several security-enhancing features, including BeyondTV’s ability to automatically delete all guest user information upon check-out. Using the television remote control, guests can also manually erase all of their data and usage history at any time by simply pushing a button. Further, BeyondTV requires guest device registration to begin wirelessly casting to their in-room television.

“With data theft increasingly a concern as more guests travel with devices and leverage online connectivity, our patented BeyondTV technology serves as proof that they can safely access streaming subscriptions and other personal content with complete peace of mind,” said Gary Patrick, CEO of Hotel Internet Services. “By obtaining an enhanced sense of security, guests will not only be able to further enjoy their in-room entertainment experience but will also be more likely to interact with the additional property revenue-enhancing features that BeyondTV offers.”

In addition to providing access to personal content and wireless casting abilities, BeyondTV allows guests to learn about hotel amenities and make service requests via the guestroom television remote. Hotels also have the option to play promotional videos at configurable intervals on the television, thus creating further marketing opportunities for their amenities such as spa services and restaurants, or other hotel locations that belong to the same brand.

Other recent updates to BeyondTV include intuitive voice control via an integration with Amazon’s Alexa, providing users with the ability to fully control all television functions with just their voice. This feature even allows guests to control room systems such as thermostats and lighting, or make requests, such as for room service or to find out specific hotel information.
